Varsity off to a hot start!

The Huskies Varsity opened the season with a stunning 10-5 win at Tulsa Union
on March 5.  They followed that up with another road win by besting Norman
North 13-5 on March 10.  At Norman North, the Huskies were paced by Jon
McNeill with 2 home runs.  Congratulations to Jon and all the Huskies!  What a
great start.

All Edmond North Baseball Parents,

On Saturday April 3, 2010 the 2nd annual
"Battle at the Brick - Mayor's Cup" will be played
at the Bricktown Ballpark.  The three Edmond High School Varsity teams along with the
three Moore High Schools will again be experiencing the dream of what it might be like to
be a professional baseball player.  For some this could be just the beginning of a genuine
professional baseball career, but for others this one game will be as close as it gets.  The
excitement of the games - the dugouts, home plate, bullpens, the stadium and especially
the jumbotron in the outfield, these games are the real thing!

Moore won the Mayor's Cup of 2009, however we fully expect to bring the trophy home this
year and want your help by filling up the stands to cheer on our Edmond teams.  This event
has the potential to be a big fundraiser for our club.  We get to keep all ticket and t-shirt
sales our club sells before the day of the event.  The day of the games sales are split among
all six schools.  Additionally, there are sponsorship packages for both personal and
businesses if you know someone that would be interested.  There are no requirements of
players to sell a certain amount of tickets or t-shirts! What we need from everyone is very
simple,
support and enthusiasm!   Also, there is a little matter of civic pride in this event and
we want to pack the stands with the most fans from Edmond for all of the games played
that day.

The game schedules are:

Edmond North vs. Southmoore          11:00 a.m.
Edmond Memorial vs. Westmoore     2:30 p.m.
Edmond Santa Fe vs. Moore               6:00 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Brick for a great day of baseball!

Thanks.  Kent

FIRST PITCH BANQUET A SUCCESS!
The annual kick-off banquet was held January 14th and a record crowd was in attendance
– 63 of the 70 players in the program were represented as were team managers,  Diamond
Doll representatives, and Edmond North Principal, Jan Keirns.  Coach King introduced his
coaching staff and their wives – Jon Hunter, Greg Bloyd, Cody Murray, Brandon Fairbanks,
Todd Brown, Dusty White, and Rich Hess.  The program honored 17 senior players – Scott
Bomhoff, Colton Byford, Cole Carter, Kevin Ernst, Logan Garrett, Blake Gatewood, Chance
Lyons, Brandon McLean, Jon McNeill, Jon Nashert, Carson Peddycoart, Reid Pepper, Quint
Reynolds, Sam Roberts, Thomas Rudd, Jack Ryan, Nick Verdea.  A delicious dinner was
provided by Carino’s Italian Grill  topped off by dessert cakes donated by the Stanley
family.  The Banquet Committee, chaired by the Junior class, coordinated the event – giving
senior parents a well-deserved break and an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the evening.
They did an amazing job of transforming the Freshman Commons to a beautiful banquet
setting.  Compliments to everyone involved!!

Due to an unfortunate miscommunication, our planned speaker did not arrive but,
fortunately for all of us, Coach King stepped up to the plate and gave the group an inspiring
look at the present and the future of Edmond North Baseball.  The evening ended with a
video picture presentation – a sentimental look back at our senior players.  There were
several smiles, a few laughs, and even some tears, as we saw a glimpse of where the boys’
lives began and where they are today.  Good Luck Seniors 2010 and may all the Edmond
North teams have great seasons this spring!
